Here is the detailed (and updated) map of the far-eastern region of Gandaroth. Chandraya, along with all its states (Candoli, Trisaa, Kuumind, Nakta, Yamalii and Kaandin) and its rival republic Araay are heavily inspired in Indian History and mythology.
I have also created some other locations that can accommodate narratives related to Japanese and Chinese fantasy. There is the big island of Naramu and then the mainland in the South with a few prominent realms like Kiinjo, Akamana, Monsonu, Shijaun and Omakubi.
Finally, I have added some provinces like Shiba-ryo, Hara-anago, Son-Tsubiro, Ts'ai-ho and Yi-Guan. The next thing to do is to come up with the History of these places and the rivalry between the countries. Alas, another project!
You should track down and read the old Dungeons and Dragons eastern supplement. I can't remember what it was called now but it is right up your street.
